My name is Michael Reyes, and I was born in February 1981. From a young age, growing up in East New York, I saw firsthand the struggles that come with poverty. My neighborhood was filled with resilience and determination, but it was also a place where opportunities often felt out of reach. I always knew I wanted to give back and help youth like me, those who needed a hand to overcome the barriers life placed in their way.
My passion for technology led me to create HardwareGeeks.com, a platform where I could share my love for gadgets and innovation. Later, I founded CuteGeek.com, a site dedicated to empowering women in the tech space and ensuring they had a voice in a rapidly evolving industry. These ventures gave me a strong foundation in building communities and connecting people with resources.
However, my life took a transformative turn after experiencing extreme poverty in the Dominican Republic. While East New York had its challenges, nothing could prepare me for the level of hardship I witnessed there. The struggles of the youth touched me deeply, and I knew I had to do something meaningful.
With my wife by my side, we founded Reyes Mora Youth Centers International. Our nonprofit is dedicated to providing under-resourced children in the Dominican Republic with opportunities to grow, learn, and thrive. We’ve made it our mission to create a safe and nurturing environment where kids can access education, mentorship, and the tools they need to build brighter futures.
This journey has been deeply personal for me. It’s not just about giving back; it’s about being the change I wished to see when I was younger. Through Reyes Mora, I’m proud to say that we’re not only helping kids but also fostering hope and resilience in communities that need it most.
